about

This song is a tribute to ~Davey Goldsworthy, hugely talented singer songwriter from indie pop group The Chesterfields. He was tragically killed in a hit and run incident and I wrote this one on hearing the news. I didn't know Davey personally but di have a few words with him after a gig at The West End Centre, Aldershot in the 1980's. I told him they were brilliant and he gave me their setlist, something I treasure to this day. The lyrics mention his songs, Love Mountain, Completely And Utterly and Jonny Dee amongst others. It also cleverly twists one of Goldswothy's own lyrics where Avery pays homage to songwriter singing 'I see electric guitars in the stars when I hear you'

lyrics

BRILLIANT THROUGH AND THROUGH

Davey Davey Davey I can't believe it's true
a friend of mine just told me
what happened to you

an under rated talent that penetrates so few
Ill reinstate your memory
your legacy shines through
what you gonna do? what you gonna do?

I see electric guitars in the stars when I hear you
Brilliant through and through
I see electric guitars in the stars

I dusted of my vinyl , watched the needle cross the tracks
pop kids in the fanzines,
transcend me back

Jonny Dee, The Rain Love Mountain
Utterly and Treehouse too
You let me have your setlist
I treasure it I do
what you gonna do? what you gonna do?

I see electric guitars in the stars when I hear you
Brilliant through and through
I see electric guitars in the stars

reach the top, the top of Love Mountain
top of Love Mountain, top of Love Mountain

Down at the West End Centre
Chesterfields we came to see
and out there in the mosh pit
no better place to be

I saw you from a distance
and I got to speak to you
so happy that I told you , you're brilliant through and throughwhat you what you gonna do? what you gonna do?

I see electric guitars in the stars when I hear you
Brilliant through and through
I see electric guitars in the stars

brilliant through and through
brilliant through and through and through
